Slumber Party

I don't care about football, so while the rest of our nation is watching the Super Bowl...I'm blogging!

slumber party, according to thefreedictionary.com
n.
An overnight party in which guests, usually girls, wear nightclothes, socialize, and spend the night at a friend's home.
slumber party, according to Kellyn
n.
When friends come sleep at my house with lots of blankets, pillows, pillow fights, popcorn, movies, and ghost stories.

Kellyn has been talking about having a sleep-over for months now, and we finally decided that Friday night was the perfect night for her to discover the magic of slumber parties.

Kellyn was SO incredibly excited. Our whole morning and afternoon was filled with, "Is it time for my slumber party yet?" and "When are my friends coming over?" and "Are you sure it's not time yet?" Here she is--impatiently waiting to host her very first slumber party:
She was only peering out that window for an hour or so... ;)

Our evening was filled with all things girly:

fairy wings & tutus

 tiaras

 pretty pajamas

and fingernail polish.
 Lots
 and
 lots

 and
 lots
 of fingernail polish.

The three girls easily agreed upon watching Tangled and My Little Pony.

Precious little voices drifted from our living room saying things like, "She has long hair just like me!" and "She has a short sleeved shirt on just like me!" Oh, how I love to hear the sweet thoughts of little girls.

They then decided they'd also watch Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and The Little Mermaid, but there simply was not time for all of that--they were too busy making pizza,
 comparing tooth brushes,

and playing with Riko..I mean..Sarah..I mean..Daisy (that poor hamster..Kellyn keeps changing her name!)

A few more pictures and some other cute things I overheard that night:

"When I see a tiger, I just pet him on the back so he doesn't eat my fingers."
"Jude! He's gonna lay a stinky on my blanket, and then it's gonna smell!"
I can't blame the girl..he had some rank gas that night!
"There's a shooting stick on the floor!" (toy bow & arrow)
After they decided whether or not to have music on/off and certain lights on/off, it was pretty easy to get them to sleep. Just kidding. They were tucked in a dozen-ish times! Oh well, it was worth it to see them so excited. :)
slumber party = success

  3. How cute! My son (just turned 4) keeps asking to have his friends sleep over. I don't think he's quite ready, but it won't be long!
